They went ahead from their first penalty corner on 20 minutes, Katherine Poulter deflecting home a well-worked set play.

Hawks wrapped up the points in the second half with another goal from Haines.

Oxford went down 2-1 at home Brighton & Hove in South Clubs League Division 2.

The home defence came under pressure in the opening period, a rash tackle in the D giving them a penalty flick which their captain converted. Brighton continued to attack and soon after won a penalty corner which they forced over the line despite a diving save from Caitlin Bailey-Williams.

In the second half, the Brighton keeper made a series of good saves before Hayley Sawyer set up Catherine Reaney to score.

Despite putting the resolute Brighton defence under the cosh, Oxford could not find an equaliser.

Bicester stay top of Trysports Premier 2 after a 1-1 draw with Phoenix & Ranelagh, although South Bucks are hard on their heels.

Phoenix took a first-half lead before Bicester hit back through captain Lilla Venning.
