In a tight match against one of the Evo-Stik Southern league Division 1 South & West promotion candidates, North lost 3-1 at home to Paulton Rovers on Saturday.

The hosts were unlucky to lose striker John Mills with a leg injury midway through the first half.

Shortly afterwards, Paul-ton took the lead when striker Craig Loxon’s crisp first-time shot found the bottom corner of the net past keeper Sam Warrell.

Paulton doubled their lead early in the second half when midfielder Ben Osman netted from 30 yards.

The home side’s efforts were rewarded in the 70th minute, when skipper Stuart Hole scored with a superb curling free-kick, which went in via the inside of a post.

With the home side throwing all their efforts into an equaliser, a defensive lapse after 80 minutes let in Ben Lacey, who slipped the ball around Warrell and into an empty net for Paulton’s third goal.
