CRAWLEY manager Steve Evans said that his side should have won Saturday’s match 10-1, writes MARK EDWARDS.

And the outspoken boss added that he and his staff always act in a professional manner whether they win, lose or draw.

“Not many times a manager will stand before the media and think that his side should have beaten Oxford 10-1,” said Evans.

“But I think that today was the day.

“We passed the ball well, moved, competed. Scored four, missed ten – so it was a good afternoon for us.

“Oxford is a big club with fantastic supporters who get right behind their side, a top-class manager who I respect highly and some very good players, but that was a good win for us today.”

Evans felt that his side dominated the game, apart from the brief spell after Oxford pulled a goal back.

And that, he thought, should not have counted on two fronts.

“Their goal was a foul,” he said.

“Initially I think it is a foul on the captain (Pablo Mills) and then it was a foul on the goalkeeper, but maybe the referee was unsighted.

“We regrouped for five minutes, Oxford had a bit of the ball which happens when you get it back to 2-1 having been outplayed, but it was a big goal for us just before half-time.

“But in the second half I don’t know how we have just scored one.

“The goalkeeper has made some great saves, and some good players have had to defend for their lives to stop us.

“I said last week that Tyrone Barnett was worth £1m, but he’s just gone up even higher hasn’t he?”

And Evans added that his (perceived) lack of reaction on the bench was the norm.

“You didn’t see any wild celebrations from us at all,” he added. “You won’t see anything different if we win or get beaten, we conduct ourselves normally at all times.”
