Chadlington's Danny Harding won the Hawthorn Award for the best batsman at the OCA’s annual presentation evening at Drayton Park Golf Club, near Abingdon.

The former Banbury wicket-keeper finished top of the tree, scoring 1,324 runs in 21 innings at an average of 73.55.

He made his highest score of 148 in their 105-run win against Clifton Hampden in Division 3 on July 30 as his side won the Division 3 title, their fourth crown in five seasons.

The awards were presented by England women’s cricket captain Charlotte Edwards, who was also guest speaker.

Chadlington also completed a league and cup double in the Telegraph Cup.

The bowler of the year was King Sutton’s Dan Smith, who in 19 matches, captured 64 wickets at an average of 5.90 to win the Boyd Maunsell Bowling Trophy.

Smith’s best display came in their nine-wicket victory against Risinghurst in Division 7 when he returned excellent figures of 8-12.

Jack Simpson from Division 1 side Minster Lovell, won the George Panting young player of the year award.

He scored 480 runs at an average of 28.2 and took 37 wickets at an average of 16.75, holding off a strong challenge from Conor Taylor.

The Shrivenham youngster scored 589 runs (49.0 av) and 29 wickets (29.47 av).

Combe’s Robbie Nicholson won the special achievement award.

He finished the season with a batting average of 35.59 (622 runs) and a bowling average of 14.70 (41 wickets).

Chipping Norton, led by Ben Tew, secured the Division 4 crown, while Kilkenny won the Division 6 championship title.

Cassington were presented with the Hawthorn Award for sportsmanship.

The Morris Honey Award for having the most improved ground was given to Division 5 side Chesterton.
