Kennington moved to within two points of Oxfordshire Senior League Premier Division leaders Adderbury Park with a 2-1 victory against Garsington.

Stephen Lewis gave Kennington an early lead when he headed in Nick Giles’s free-kick at the near post.

And Stuart Wheeler doubled their advantage when he fastened onto a loose ball before rounding the keeper and shooting home.

After the break, Matt Bowler cut the deficit from close range, but Kennington held on.

Adderbury lost 2-0 to Stonesfield.

Stonesfield went ahead on the hour when George Redknap’s cross was headed in by Niall Lynch.

They soon made it 2-0 when Tim Wyatt rifled home Redknap’s flick-on from 20 yards.

Former Horspath striker Simon Burton helped Oxford University Press fight back from a goal down to beat his old club 2-1.

Horspath took the lead when Chris Harper found the bottom corner with a calm finish.

But minutes later Burton levelled for his new club with a delightful lob.

Ten minutes from time, Rui de Cortas scored the winner from the penalty spot after Burton was fouled.

Launton Sports broke their duck with a 1-0 win at Slade Farm United, Chris Johnson the scorer.

Roger Gill hit a hat-trick as Mansfield Road won 4-3 at Oxford Irish.

Dan Trinder was their other scorer, with Darren Cuddy, John McMahon and Piers McGlynn on target for the home side.

Bletchingdon eased to a 2-0 success away at Marston Saints, with all the goals coming in the first half.

Steve Mulcock fired them in front, with Adam Wells sealing victory.

Scott Finch notched a double as Middleton Cheney edged an eight-goal thriller 5-3 against Oakley United in Division 1.

Middleton stormed into a 3-0 lead thanks to Finch’s brace and another header from Steve Orian.

Just before the break, Oakley cut the deficit when Matt Johnston’s shot was deflected into the net.

Johnston then clawed another goal back with a well-struck shot.

However, as they pushed for an equaliser, a quick-fire brace from substitute Kevin Coles saw Middleton make it 5-2.

Although Matt Gregor bagged a third for Oakley when he curled a shot into the top corner, the damage had been done.
