WITNEY head coach Phil Harper has challenged his players to maintain a greater consistency.
Harper’s men showed what they are capable of in Saturday’s 35-13 defeat of Reading, but they also demonstrated their fragility during last season’s nine-match losing streak.
Harper said: “We have got to make sure we go out each week with the intensity we showed against Reading.
“We have not always done that in the past.”
The Reading match marked the official opening of Witney’s new first-team pitch, which looked in good shape.
Having often seen the in-goal area nearest the clubhouse become a quagmire in previous seasons, Witney will hope the new surface stands up to the winter’s examination.
