OXFORDSHIRE golf star Eddie Pepperell is now officially attached to Frilford Heath.

The 20-year-old, from Abingdon, has switched allegiance from Drayton Park, returning to the club where he had much success as a junior.

Pepperell, who will seek to come through the European Tour qualifying school in December, was Frilford junior champion in 2004 and 2005 and club champion in 2007 aged 16.

Frilford general manager Jimmy James said: “Eddie has been very impressed with the condition of all three courses and believes that by practising and using the facilities at Frilford Heath, this can only benefit his game and career.”

Meanwhile, Pepperell, who is the BB&O Golf Partnership’s ambassador, was on official duty at Studley Wood, handing out the prizes in their Champion of Champions final.

The Wychwood’s Steven Stanhope won the 12-and-under boys’ event in style, carding an eagle and a birdie on his final two holes for a 45-point total.

The 12-handicapper finished five points clear of Callum Kirby (Harleyford).

Victoria Hart (Hadden Hill) claimed the girls’ 12-and-under title on 42 points, with Sally Ayres (Frilford Heath) second on 37.

Studley Wood’s Danielle Benger took the girls’ nine holes stableford prize for those with no or a high handicap, scoring 21 points.
