Weston-super-Mare 2, Oxford City 3
Oxford City booked their place in tomorrow's FA Cup first round draw with a battling 3-2 victory at Blue Square South side Weston-super-Mare this afternoon.
A superb first-half display saw City take a 2-0 interval lead, with goals from Darren Pond and Steve Basham.
But in the second half, City had to soak up considerable pressure from Weston, who reduced the arrears from the penalty spot in the 55th minute when Nat Pepperell slotted home after Kane Ingram had been fouled in the box.
Weston dominated the second period, with City soaking up pressure throughout.
Jason Mooney in the City goal made a string of superb saves, before the visitors restored their two-goal lead against the run of play.
Lee Steele did superbly to win a midfield challenge, before threading a ball through to Felipe Barcelos, who delightfully finished past Weston keeper Lloyd Irish.
Back came Weston, and in stoppage time, Ingram netted to reduce the arrears.
And it was left to City's man-of-the-match Mooney to make a match-winning save deep into stoppage time as he produced a miraculous left-handed block to deny Weston's Dayle Grubb an equaliser.
City will now await with great interest tomorrow's first-round draw, and will doubtless hope to draw Oxford United at home.
