Oxford City’s Hannah England only just missed out on being chosen as the women athlete of the year by the British Athletics Writers’ Association.
England (pictured), who gained a 1500m silver medal at the World Championships, finished just two votes behind Jessica Ennis.
Ennis, who won silver in the heptathlon, took the award for the third successive year.
World 5,000m champion Mo Farah won the men's award for the third time.
