Bicester's Laura Scarlett-McAllister is retiring from full-time senshu judo and self defence coaching after 23 years.
The third Dan black belt, who founded the Bicester Senshu Judo Club and was also head coach, is calling it a day to concentrate on studying physiotherapy at Oxford Brookes University.
Senshu judo is now going to be run by fifth Dan and ex-British Masters champion Dave Cooper.
A four-times European Masters bronze medallist, dual British Masters champion, and England Commonwealth Games coach, Scarlett-McAllister plans to compete in the 2012 Commonwealth tournament.
She will also be working for the judo team at the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics.
“It has been a pleasure to coach and run Senshu Judo, and I will miss all of the students and parents,” she said.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed being able to teach a sport I love to many students over the years, and being able to see their progression through the sport.
“I am confident to hand over all the classes to Dave and feel that he has the energy and vision to take the club to greater heights and more success.”
Senshu Judo and Self Defence has classes running in Thame, Bicester, and numerous schools.
