Bicester tackle shop owner Joe Taylor has just returned from another one of his international fishing trips, this time spending six weeks in Surinam, South America, fishing the Coppername River.
He travelled over with six other anglers, targeting Lau Lau catfish (as pictured), which can be massive, so tackle has to be tough and everyone on the trip used four-piece travel rods, 100kg braid, 300lb swivels and Kryston Kraken hooklengths tied to a 10.0 catfish pro hook.
Some good fish were caught and Taylor’s best weighed a huge 164lb.
This was his last trip to Surinam, but Guyana is next in February.
