Abingdon Utd 0, Tiverton Tn 2

ABINGDON slipped into the bottom three after missing several chances to at least snatch a share of the points in Evostik Southern League Division 1 South & West.

They suffered an early blow when captain Ricky Allaway pulled a hamstring after five minutes and had to be replaced by Tom Austin.

For most of the first half, Tiverton were on top and they scored their first goal when Michael Nardiello beat the offside trap.

With Abingdon’s players looking for a flag, Nardiello ran clear to slip the ball inside the far post.

Adam Doyle went close with a volley from outside the area, for the hosts, who upped their tempo in the second half.

Sam Collier was denied by Tiverton keeper Chris Wright, while Steve Davis drilled a ball across to Austin, who, with the goal at his mercy, shot wide.

To rub salt into the wounds, Tiverton wrapped up victory in the last minute when the ball was delivered to Joe Bushin, who stooped to head powerful into the net.
