ANDY Benwell made it a hat-trick of wins in the 14th and final match of this season’s Carp League 2011 held at Rissington.

In a titanic scrap, he finished level on points with Gary Knight, but took the title on heavier weight.

The last match also provided a close finish, Derek Hammond coming out on top with 127.12.0 of carp, including fish to 5lb on pole and maggot.

He pipped Knight, who returned 127.4.0, again all carp to 12lb, on maggot over groundbait.

Benwell (Predator) was third with 103.0.0 on paste fished at 8m. Eighteen fished.

Final positions: 1 A Benwell 20pts, 2 G Knight 20, 3 M Ryman 24, 4 D Hammond 26.

The Thames was low and clear for Littlemore’s Chairman’s Cup, which doubled up to inc-lude a match against Kenn-ington A.

Alan Campbell (Littlemore) came out on top with six skimmers on groundbait feeder with worm for 12.15.0.

Kennington’s Rob Cordery, off the next peg, had two bream and a big perch for 9.3.0 and second, while Pete Clarke (Littlemore) was third with a mixed net of 4.7.0 on waggler and whip.

A lot of anglers managed a only a couple of pounds and five blanks were recorded.

Kennington pipped their rivals 23-13-0 to 23-9-0.

Marston AC took a break from their own stretch of the Cherwell to fish Cheney Manor Lakes, near Deddington and with the carp proving elusive, silver fish played a major part in the results.

Steve Tomkins had one carp, plus around 15lb of roach and perch on the pole and chopped worm, for a winning weight of 20.6.0.

Second was Jim Foster, who sat it out on the feeder for carp and had three good fish for 17.10.0, while Graham Bradshaw had an all silver fish net for of 16lb on pole with worm and caster for third.
