JOE Bellinger’s man-of-the-match display helped Grove to a 32-8 victory at Aylesbury.

He impressed at No 8 and lock, after switching positions, scoring two tries as Grove’s slicker atacking and better discipline proved crucial.

Fly half Dave Maryon fed the marauding Bellinger for Grove’s opening try, converted by centre Roger Sevier.

Grove went close to a second try before Roger Sevier’s penalty made it 10-0, but Aylesbury replied with wing Jordan Stanmore touching down in the corner.

Aylesbury No 8 James Woodfall kicked a second-half penalty, but Grove centre Nick Sevier then finished off a good passing move.

Wing Harry Carr, who has rejoined from Chinnor, set up try No 3 for Roger Sevier.

Bellinger handed off a home defender to score his second try, Roger Sevier converting.

Grove ended on a high, with Carr touching down Maryon’s cross kick.

Alchester lost 35-12 at home to a quick and well-drilled Beaconsfield side.

The visitors found the gaps in a stretched Alchester defence to score four tries, two conversions and two penalties for a 30-0 half-time lead.

Despite conceding a fifth try on the hour mark, Alchester raised their game in the second half.

On 65 minutes, replacement prop Sean Cooke powered over from close range.

Alchester defended well and then managed a second try in the final minute as wing Ieuan Robinson broke through from 40 metres out and centre Tom Miles converted.

Wallingford surrendered a half-time lead to lose 41-22 at home to Tadley.

Three penalties from fly half Oli Henderson and a chargedown try from Richard Bower put Wallingford 14-8 up at half-time.

But Tadley came on strong, with their blitz defence and Wallingford’s panicking leading to the visitors running away with it.

Wallingford managed a further Henderson penalty and a last-minute try from James Norris after several pick-and-drives.
