Didcot Town manager Francis Vines has called on his side to use their FA Cup midweek extra-time victory against Abingdon Town as a springboard to success in Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West.

Vines was pleased with the 3-2 success in the preliminary-round replay, after last weekend’s game ended 2-2.

But he says they need to show the same application to get a good result at Bishops Cleeve tomorrow.

“Bishops Cleeve are direct – they play a pressure game and they bombard your defence,” said Vines.

“So you have to stand up for it and hopefully get something at the other end.

“It always helps to get that first win. Hopefully, the guys will now understand what it takes to get over the winning line and how to go on from there.”

Didcot give a late fitness test to Lee Henderson (ankle).

North Leigh hope to add Sam Parish to their squad for the visit of Tiverton.

The defender is set to complete his move from Swindon Supermarine and could play should the paperwork be completed in time.

Meanwhile, boss Mark Gee has saluted his team for their positive attitude.

He said: “With Matt Taylor and Josh Dutton-Black out injured, people that have come in have done really well. They now have to keep it up.”

Tom Roberts (away) misses out.

Abingdon United could give a debut to Michael Buck after signing him from Sandhurst Town.

Manager Richie Bourne tried to sign him last season, but he became available after the Sandhurst manager quit.

He said: “I’m over the moon about signing him. I might even throw him straight in although Curtis Angell did very well at right back after Jack Smith was injured against Wantage.”

Meanwhile, Aaron Parfitt has returned to Abingdon after a brief spell at Hampton & Richmond.
