Simon Parker says that he is trying to make sure Oxford United supporters get something different by signing up to Yellow Player – the club’s online subscription channel.

Parker, the club’s online multimedia editor, says that as a U’s fan himself, he is working to produce material of interest to supporters.

He explained: “I think Yellow Player is worlds away now from where it was when I took over.

“It is in a privileged position in that it’s inside the club and we can get to players and staff more than other media are allowed to.

“I’m a fan and am trying to produce material that would be of interest to other supporters.

“Football fans crave getting a real insight into the club almost behind closed doors if you like, that’s the side of football that everyone wants to see.”

However, not all of Parker’s ideas have come to fruition.

“We suggested that we could film a teamtalk at half-time, which was categorically refused,” he said.

“I can’t remember exactly what game it was so can’t remember whether it would have been a lively one or not, but we were basically told by the manager to ‘do one’!”
