OCA League Divisions 1-4

BACK-to-back victories in the space of 24 hours handed Horley the Division 1 title on Saturday.

The north Oxfordshire team have confirmed they have applied for promotion to the Cherwell League, after they proved too good for both Minster Lovell or East Oxford, cruising to comfortable victories.

On Saturday, Horley thump-ed Minster by ten wickets.

Jonathan Hart claimed 4-19 as Minster were shot out for 65, before Nick Tarrant (33no) and David Taylor (30no) saw Horley to 68-0.

Against East Oxford, they restricted their hosts to 132-8 as Dave Eaton and Oscar Allitt claimed three wickets apiece.

Taylor then led the way again, hitting 41 to see Horley to 133-3 and start the celebrations.

Westbury confirmed the runners-up spot with an eight-wicket win at Charlbury.

Wayne Sellwood’s 5-32 helped to dismiss Charlbury for 91, before Sam Harper (37) led Westbury to 92-2.

Garsington finished with a five-wicket win at Tetsworth.

Asif Shah took 5-29 as Tetsworth were skittled for 69, before Garsington reached 70-5.

East Oxford saw off Shriv-enham by two wickets in a high-scoring clash.

Mark Whale (66) and Scott Valentine (51) helped Shrivenham to 280-9, but East Oxford chased down the mammoth target, thanks largely to Khurram Shaheen’s 94.

Broughton & North Newington clinched the Division 2 title with a six-wicket win over Faringdon.

Broughton posted 166-6 in their 45 overs, while Darren Clarke claimed a hat-trick in figures of 3-40.

Gary Crook (46), Jason Tilcock (46) and Ansar Aslam (42no) then batted sensibly to see Broughton to the target and the title.

Oxenford finished runners-up with a six-wicket win at Marsh Gibbon.

Zahid Khan claimed 4-22 as Marsh Gibbon were bowled out for 114, before Rhys Davies (47no) led Oxenford to 117-4.

Witney Swifts’ miserable season ended with an eight-wicket defeat at Hook Norton.

Swifts posted 163-8, which Hooky sailed past with two wickets down as Melvyn Riley hit 73 and Tim Lunel 54no.

Bryan Barrett made 80 and Richard Burton 78 as Oxford Caribbean beat Stonesfield by 101 runs.

Caribbean rattled up 276-5, before Barrett (3-16) and Nigel George (3-19) combined to dismiss Stonesfield for 137.

Chadlington’s rise up the leagues continued as they wrapped up the Division 3 title, despite a two-wicket defeat against East & West Hendred.

Danny Hardng (57) and Mark Lambert (40no) saw Chadlington to 188-3, only for Ivan Mulford (44) to take Hendred to 189-8 to clinch the second promotion spot.

At the other end of the table, Winslow Town’s four-wicket win at Clifton Hampden could not prevent them from taking the second relegation spot.

That was because East Oxford 2nd secured their survival with a 38-run win over West Ilsley.

Sarfraz Hussain hit 97 in East Oxford’s 286-8, before Moh-ammed Imran claimed 5-51 as West Ilsley were restricted to 248-6 in reply.

Chipping Norton wrapped up the Division 4 title with a crushing eight-wicket win over Charlbury 2nd.

Pete Bartlett claimed 6-23 to rip through Charlbury for a paltry 96, before Sam Evans (53) and Ben Tew (36no) led Chippy to 97-2.

Radley clinched the runners-up spot with a two-wicket win against Wootton & Boars Hill, who will need to win their last game against Charlbury 2nd to avoid relegation.

Wootton were bowled out for 193 as Manley Du Preez claimed 4-49.

Contributions from Du Preez (36), Darren Jones (36), Faiz Khan (32) and Marcus Charman (31) then saw Radley to 195-8.

Hailey missed out as they fell to a five-wicket defeat at Fringford.

Ian King hit 72 in Hailey’s 162 all out, John Bacon taking 4-25 and Steve Mitchell 3-33.

Damian Leach then fell one short of a century to see his side to 164-5.

Kennington thumped Ox-ford Rescue by 134 runs to secure their survival.

Jai Patel (74) and Graham Rowley (52) starred in Kennington’s 270-6.

Three wickets apiece for Karim Sutton, James Rowley and Duncan Robson ensured Rescue were bowled out for 136.
