OXFORD City Stars kick off their English National League South Division 1 season with an away double-header at Slough and Chelmsford.

Stars visit Slough Jets today (7) and then take on Chelmsford Chieftans tomorrow (6.30), with Andy Cox set to fill in in defence for the unavailable Wayne Fiddes.

Head coach Ken Forshee said: “We are looking to get off to a good start to the season with a win at Slough.

“Slough are new to the league, so we really don’t know what to expect from them.

“We will be looking to establish a good work ethic and get into good habits in our first game and then try to continue this into the season.”

He added: “Chelmsford are most peoples favourites to win the league this season.

“It will be a good challenge for us and we will see how we stack up against a good team like this early in the season.”
