Horspath Hammers Livvi Horsley won the British Women’s Riders Championships in Hethersett, Norfolk.

Horsley, who also clinched the British under 16 title, did not produce her best starts, but frequently powered to the front.

Heat one saw her take pre-match favourite Lauren Jacobs, and close rivals Lauren Davies and Danielle Riley, swooping under them on the first bend.

Horsley dived under Michelle Whitehead to win heat six, while another first-bend move brought her past Vicky Brown in heat ten.

Horsley dropped her only point to Lauren Hookway in heat 14.

But she left the best to last to win heat 18, sweeping under former double British champion Lucy Whitehead on lap three.

It capped an incredible fortnight for the Wheatley Park schoolgirl.

Horsley played a significant part in Team GB Women’s Test series win in Poland, scoring a maximum in the second Test at Bydgoszcz.

She won the Polish International Grand Prix at Zolowedo, and then South & South Wales Grand Prix round five at Filton.

Hammers’ Charlie Jane Herbert also made the final, scoring 13, while Alice Neighbour was third in the under 10 girls’ category.

l HORSPATH’S Mark Boaler missed out on retaining his British title at Eaton Park, Norwich after teammate Chris Osborne’s controversial last-bend exclusion in the final race.

This saw it and the title awarded to Hull’s Andy Angel, despite Boaler crossing the line in first.

Boaler was then excluded in the run off for third place.

Zac Payne (14) and Lee Clark (seven) made the under 16 final.
