Banbury United boss Ady Fuller has hailed his defence as they aim for their fifth win on the spin when they host Hemel Hempstead in the Evo-Stik Premier Division on Saturday.

Monday’s 1-0 derby win at Oxford City saw them go third and make it four clean sheets in a row.

“You can’t knock four wins on the bounce,” said Fuller.

“Our keeper (Andy Kemp) didn’t really have much to do. I was very pleased with our back three.

“Ben Thackeray was superb. He’s a no-nonsense centre-half. He heads and kicks the ball forward, that’s what want from him. It doesn’t have to be pretty.

“If you keep the goals out you will win matches with our firepower upfront.”

Fuller, who wil be without Liam Dolman (ankle) added: “Hemel will be big test – we know a lot about them and they will start clicking soon.

“It’s going well, but we have to keep our feet on the ground. A couple of defeats and you’re back down there.”

Glenn Walker and Sam Youngs return to the squad.

Mike Ford has urged his Oxford City side to bounce back when they host Leamington.

He said: “We huffed and puffed against Banbury, but we didn’t dominate enough.

“I was disappointed, but if you look at it, we have had our best start for four seasons in the Premier.

“Including pre-season, we have lost three of our last 15 games.

“Leamington will be there or thereabouts.

“It will be a good game and they will bring a few fans, so it’s one to bounce back in.”
