Trainer Angie Kibble continues to dominate the Trainers Championship with another 29 winners in July giving her a healthy 41 lead over the fast emerging challenger Maurice Massey.

The Blackthorn handler produced 21 winners and with reigning champion Michael Peterson on 126 winners, it looks certain Kibble is close to her seventh title having won back-to-back titles from 1998 and 2003.

Standings: 1 A Kibble 29 winners (172), 2 M Massey 21 (131), 3 N Colton 19 (126), 4 M Peterson 14 (126), 5 T Magnasco 13 (122), 6 R Baker 23 (114), 7 G Hepden 21 (98), 8 T Kibble 9 (76), 9 R Bicknell 7 (75), 10 S Rayner 11 (67), 11 J Mayo 9 (60), 12 B Hannan 5 (58), 13 R Yeates 8 (51), 14 T Atkins 9 (48), 15 P Clarke 4 (44), 16 C Stringer 5 (5).

Meanwhile, two forthcoming £500 events are to be restricted to 595 metres to encourage trainers to trial more hounds over the stayers trip.

Recent appeals to the handlers have fallen on deaf ears so management are holding out a carrot to get more staying races to add to variety to the race cards.

Meanwhile, another £500 to the winner event gets under way tonight when owner Mick Lowe sponsors a grade 2/3 kennel sweepstakes.

The first two in each heat goes through to next Saturday’s final.
