WOODSTOCK Harrier Sophie Ca-rter continued her winning form with victory at the Hooky 6 on Sunday.

The race, which incorporated the latest Oxfordshire Road Race Grand Prix event, was well-supported with 280 finishers.

Carter eased to victory in 36mins 2secs, seeing off Bourton Roadrunners’ Shona Crombie-Hicks for victory.

Crombie-Hicks won the vet 35 crown in 36.26 in finishing second, while Carter’s teammate, Jess Webb, was third in 37.12.

The men’s race had a notable absentee as Mota-vation champion Steve Naylor withdrew due to a slight ankle injury.

Oxford City’s Darrell Bellinger just failed in his bid for victory as he lost out to Avon Valley Runners’ Tom Fisher by nine seconds.

Fisher crossed the line in 31.37, with Bellinger clocking 31.46 in a close-fought contest.

Abingdon Ambler Paul Fernandez was third in 32.12, with Oxford City athlete Steve Male coming home in 32.19 to take the vet 40 honours.

Woodstock’s James Bolton was fifth, clocking 32.37.

There were also excellent performances by Tim Hughes (White Horse Harriers), who won the vet 50 crown, finishing 12th overall, while Oxford City’s Roy Treadwell took the vet 60 honours in 36.56.
