OXFORDSHIRE’S girls found it tough going in the County Match Days event on Frilford Heath’s Red Course.
The hosts finished last in the four-county tournament, which was won by Hertfordshire.
Oxon started out with third place in the warm-up foursomes competion, won by Buckinghamshire, but lost all their matches in the main event.
Victories from Sophie Stone (Magnolia Park) and Millie Anderson (Badgemore Park) earned Oxon’s points in a 5-2 opening defeat to Bucks.
Stone battled back from two down to win her match on the 18th hole during Oxfordshire’s 6-1 loss to Berkshire.
Captain Gemma Clements (Studley Wood) earned Oxon’s solitary half in their 6½-½ defeat by Herts.
Stone was awarded the Boddington Trophy for the most improved player of the year in Oxfordshire, having cut her handicap from 12 to seven.
This came after her steady performances at Frilford and during the main county championships.
