Banbury 2nd need two wins from their final three matches to guarantee promotion after edging past Aston Rowant 2nd by three wickets.

Paul Hill took a hat trick and finished with 4-39 as Rowant were bowled out for 200 after being inserted. Chris Eaton (58), Dominique Whatman (38) and Adam Muttit (30) scored the bulk of the runs.

Tim Foster took 4-47 as Banbury were made to work hard for the victory, but Chris Smith scampered 56 and Sam Cheshire hit 41 in their 201-7.

Abingdon Vale’s promotion hopes were dealt a near fatal blow by Sandford St Martin’s South African import Siphe Mzayidume.

The quickie took 8-39 as Vale were all out for 76 in 23.3 overs.

Earlier Sandford had managed only 100, of which Chas Taylor made 45, while Graham Charlesworth took 3-14.

Tiddington’s hopes of reaching the top flight were also undone when they lost by one wicket at Long Marston.

Sam Thompson (52) and Nick Pykett (42) led the way in the visitors’ 165. James Beesley took 3-42 before Simon McLeman (3-10) wrapped up the tail.

Sam Hollingshead (7-52) then bowled throughout Marston’s innings, but Beesley’s 64 helped the hosts reach 166-9.

Banbury Twenty’s tortuous season continued at Challow & Childrey, where they were bowled out for 96.

Former Oxfordshire seamer David Slade finished with the remarkable figures of 6-6.

Despite Ady Hussain’s 3-28, Challow reached 98-4 with 35 overs to spare.

Great Brickhill pulverised Wolverton Town stay on course for a top-two finish.

Their 248-7 dec saw Anton DeBeer hit 70, Greg MacDonald 63no and Colin Davson 55, Wasim Fayyaz taking 4-76.

Pete Hastings (6-30) and Nick Tweed (4-35) skittled Town for 66.
