Spinners Shamilal Mendis and Ian Evans came to the rescue as Oxford drew their abbreviated Home Counties Premier League Division 1 match away to relegation-threatened Radlett.

Chasing a targetof 206 for victory, Radlett got off to a flying start before Mendis and Evans captured eight wickets to leave the hosts 20 short at the close.

After overnight rain, the start was delayed until 1.50pm, with the match reduced to 80 overs, with the split 44 and 36.

Put in to bat, Oxford were indebted to opener Dan King, who was fourth out at 142, having hit a spectacular 81 from 62 balls with a six and 13 fours.

Later batsmen sacrificed their wickets as Oxford were dismissed for 205 in the 41st over.

Kabir Toor, with 3-33, was Radlett’s best bowler.

Lloyd Paternott and Andre Sharma added 72 for the first wicket in quick time before the former was caught behind off the bowling of Mendis.

With the introduction of Evans, the scoring rate slo-wed.

Shane Burger kept up the chase with 38 from 39 balls , but Radlett, desperate to record a victory, had to settle for a draw, ending on 187-8 from their 39 overs Mendis returned 5-52 while Evans took 4-53.
