Cinderford Tn 1
(Evans 51)
Didcot Tn 0
New-look Didcot Town slipped to defeat at Cinderford Town on their return to Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West. Captain Jamie Heapy was the only player on show from the side, which was relegated on the final day of last season.
Defender Lee Henderson twice went close with headers from Kevin Halliday’s corners in the first half, with one cleared off the line by Andy Lewis and the other flashing inches wide.
Cinderford broke the deadlock in the 51st minute, Dean Lee laying the ball back for Dale Evans to drill home from the edge of the penalty area.
Nick Hancock was then denied by a smart save by Didcot keeper Dave Lyons as the visitors rarely looked like equalising.
Didcot Tn: Lyons, Williamson (A Tucker 90), Halliday (Keller 90), Heapy, Henderson, Durrant, Howell, S Tucker, Millar, Ajani (Yelilet 70), Carr.
Attendance: 147.
