Abingdon Utd 2
(Wimble 47, Griffin 52)
Taunton Tn 0
Two second-half goals got Abingdon United off to a winning start in their Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West fixture, which had been reversed due to the clubhouse fire at Taunton Town.
Shaun Wimble curled a free-kick into the top corner after 47 minutes to put Abingdon ahead.
And five minutes later, Scott Griffin burst through to lob the stranded keeper for Abingdon’s second goal.
Griffin was denied soon after by a fine save from Sidley-Adams, while Curtis Angell’s goalbound shot was cleared by a defender’s flying header.
Chances had been few and far between in the first half with Wimble going closest to scoring just before the break with a 25-yard drive, which Sidley-Adams tipped over.
