Didcot Barramundi’s Alex Murphy has wrapped-up the season in style.

The 16-year-old took silver and bronze in his two main breaststroke events at the British Gas ASA Youth Nationals.

Storming through heats and semi finals, he won bronze for the 200m breaststroke (2mins 23.68secs) and silver for the 100 (1.03.51), missing out on the gold meal by two-hundredths of a second.

Murphy competed for Ealing so he could race in the medley relay.

The team made it to the finals, gaining fourth position overall in the open age group.

l AbingdoN School pupil Guy Giles, 17, from Marcham, was first home in the Brownsea Island Swim.

Giles completed the 6.5km course in 1hr 15mins 8secs.

Despite the choppy seas and this being his first attempt at this distance, he managed to set a new course record.
