RADLEY or Oxford City could clinch the Southern Men’s League Division 2 West title in the final round.

The penultimate round saw Radley and City finish second in their respective meets at Yeovil and Woking, leaving Radley top of the table on countback and City just a point adrift in fourth.

With Radley facing Wycombe (second) and Basingstoke (third) in their final round at Oxford on August 13, City who are paired with lowly Bournemouth, Team Kennet and Worthing, still have a realistic title chance.

Sprinter Dain Gain was the star of the show as Oxford were edged into second place at Woking by Team Kennet.

Gain won the A String 100m in 11.2secs and then clocked 21.8 to take the 200m.

Ben Upjohn, 15, won the 1,500m in 4.20.5, Mark Warland took the discus with a throw of 26.86m and Ian Castle won the javelin in 46.91.

City won the 4x100m relay in 46.8secs.

Oxford’s Rob Webster, the UK’s No 1 ranked vet 45 800m runner, clocked 2.03.8 for second in the two-lap event – his third sub 2.04 time in ten days.

Radley’s star at Yeovil was Osman Muske , who won the A String 110m hurdles in 17.0secs, the high jump in 1.80m and the triple jump in 13.55.

Chris Franks took the hammer in 32.16.
