OXFORDSHIRE eventer Mary-Anne Carpenter has been selected to represent Great Britain in the European CIC Team Championships at Aston-le-Walls in Northam-ptonshire next week.

The 36-year-old, from Churchill, near Chipping Norton, will compete on Alles Klar in the team event alongside five other GB riders, starting on Wednesday.

Carpenter, a senior human resources officer with Lotus Renault at Enstone, was thrilled to be chosen.

“I was over the moon,” she said.

“I never thought I would get this opportunity.”

She earned her call-up on the strength of her results achieved over the last year, which included finishing runner-up in the recent Barbury International.

And she believes the Great Britain team have decent prospects.

“If all goes well, they are really good,” she added.

“I have been training hard and the horse is coming on well.

“I have had him since he was three.

“I have broken him myself and done everything with him.”

They will take part in team dressage, individual dressage, cross-country and show jumping, with each discipline on a separate day.
