Oxfordshire Under 15s made it six wins in a row in the ECB County Cup with a 40-run success against Dorset in Wimborne.

With injuries, holidays and two players, Miles Hammond and Joe Barrett, being selected for the prestigious Bunbury Festival, Oxon’s team was stretched to the limit.

Losing the toss, they were inserted on a green pitch, but an excellent second-wicket stand between Will Sutcliffe and Andy Tolson of 135 put Oxon on top.

Both were dismissed in quick succession as Dorset hit back, Sutcliffe making 60 and Tolson 70.

It was left to Angus Spittles (37no) to take Oxon to 222-5 from 50 overs.

Oxon got off to a poor start with the ball, debut Max Robson conceding nine in his first over.

But Robson hit back to finish with 4-42, while leg-spinner Dan Todd claimed 4-46 in his ten overs as Dorset were all out for 180.

Oxon are now on the brink of making the semi-finals, with the group decider in Cornwall in a week’s time.
