Serious Cricket Home Counties Premier League
ASTON Rowant’s draw with Gerrards Cross on July 16 in Division 2 West has been ruled null and void as the match started too late.
Rowant, who made 176-6 in 37 overs, were originally awarded ten points, with Cross earning five after reaching 87-5 in 33, but both teams will now receive six apiece.
It appears both umpires and captains had forgotten the league rule, which states: “Any match that cannot start by 2.30pm shall be caneclled”.
Rowant chairman Gary Condon said: “The match started at 2.49pm, which was after the cut-off.
“It is sad, but those are the rules and we have to abide by them.”
