OXFORD Downs captain Darryl Woods has received a one-match ban after walking on to the field to question an umpiring decision.
Woods will miss Saturday’s MP Sports Cherwell League clash with Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts – unless he appeals against the suspension by tonight.
The ban, which includes three weeks suspended until the end of 2012, follows Woods’ actions against Buckingham on June 25.
League chairman Clive Ricks, who chaired Woods’s disciplinary hearing, admitted his surprise at having to deal with such a respected player.
“He came along to the hearing with his club secretary and held his hands up to it,” said Ricks.
“I think it was a heat of the moment situation.”
