OCA League Divisions 1-3

GARSINGTON stayed clear at the top of Division 1 with a thrilling two-wicket victory at home to defending champions Westbury on Saturday.

The visitors were bowled out for 170, Clive Woodward taking 3-23 and Gersh Whiteman 3-32.

Garsington replied with 171-8 as Asif Shah contributing 37 and Qaiser Naveed 35.

Horley became the latest side to give whipping boys Marcham a good hiding as they cruised to a ten-wicket win.

Steve Palmer returned 7-16 in Marcham’s paltry 49 all out.

David Taylor hit 32 not out to see Horley home inside 13 overs.

Elliot Graham smashed a century as Minster Lovell shocked East Oxford with a six-wicket win.

East Oxford rattled up 207-7, Aftab Alam top-scoring with 61.

Graham then scored 104 as Minster reached 211-4 to boost their relegation escape bid.

Tetsworth were plunged into the bottom two after losing by 61 runs to Charlbury.

Iyanka Cooray hit 55 in Charlbury’s 180-9, before Hasula Prematalika took 3-17 in Tetsworth’s 119 all out.

Shrivenham won a close encoun-ter with Great Horwood by 17 runs.

Batting first, Shrivenham scored 173-9, before restricting their visitors to 156-9.

In Division 2, Broughton & North Newington crashed to their first defeat as they were beaten by seven wickets at Oxenford.

Broughton were shot out for 112 with three wickets apiece for Aaron Hirtenstein, Nimanshu Kaul and Zahid Khan.

In reply, Oxenford eased to 113-3, led by Dipyan Das’s 44.

Marsh Gibbon closed the gap with an eight-wicket win over Stonesfield.

Only Jamie Burns (60) shone in Stonesfield’s 139-8, before Stewart Black (77) and Alex Wallace (52no) led Marsh Gibbon to 140-2.

Freeland’s Marc Buckingham suffered the rare dismissal of handled the ball in his side’s 33-run defeat at Hook Norton.

Hooky had posted 137 all out, before Freeland fell for 104, Buckingham being given out for a duck.

Andrew McDowall returned superb figures of 8-26 to help Faringdon to a four-wicket win at Oxford Carib-bean.

The home side were dismissed for 102, before Faringdon reached 103-6.

Watlington were knocked off top spot in Division 3 as they crashed to a 143-run defeat at Clifton Hampden.

Clifton posted 224-4, Morley Benson hitting 90 and Andrew Pynegar 81.

Watlington were skittled for 81 in reply as Alistair Slay took 4-25.

Chadlington went top with a 12-run win in a low-scoring affair at Winslow Town.

Amit Rawal scored 115 to help West Ilsley to a 110-run win at Eynsham.

Rawal’s knock saw Ilsley to 191-7, before William Wilkins claimed 6-17 as Eynsham were bowled out for 81.

Talib Hussain’s 61 helped Westcott to a 24-run victory over East & West Hendred.

Westcott rattled up 236-7, Donley Romain chipping in with 48.

Hendred were then restricted to 212-8 in reply.

Combe saw off East Oxford 2nd by 27 runs.

Robbie Nicholson’s half-century (55) helped Combe post 185, before Tom Kellie (4-17) and Umair Ghazali (3-32) combined to dismiss East Oxford for 158.

COMBE cruised into the final of the Telegraph Cup, beating Chipping Norton by nine wickets on Sunday.

Chasing Chippy’s 140 all out, Combe eased home with Robbie Nicholson scoring 66no and Chris Moore 59no.
