Oxford City slipped to a 1-0 defeat in their pre-season friendly against a Reading XI at Court Place Farm on Saturday.

Early on, City keeper Jason Mooney denied Lawson D’Ath, while at the other end, Jerome Anderson fired wide.

There was little to choose between the sides after the break, but with 11 minutes left, Reading scored the only goal as a cross from the left was headed home by D’Ath.

City went close to an equaliser when Basham fired over following good work by Declan Benjamin.
