A REARGUARD action from Banbury salvaged a draw in their Division 1 clash against Harpenden at White Post Road on Saturday.

Chasing a formidable target of 293 for victory, Banbury were never in the hunt, and they eventually settled for a share of the spoils at 197-7.

Harpenden posted 292-8 from 66 overs, and when Banbury lost Lloyd Sabin for a duck and Sam Cheshire, they were 33-2.

A 105-run partnership bet-ween Craig Haupt and Richard West steadied the ship, Haupt scoring a hard-hit 81, but with overs running out, Banbury batted out for a draw, closing on 197-7.
