Thirty anglers fished the Super League practice open on the Thames at Medley and the water was back to its normal colour, but still lacked flow – it was actually going backwards at times.

Everyone caught fish and the lowest section winner had just under 9lb.

Paul Passmore (Turners) drew the favoured bottom end peg just above the sailing club and caught a couple of skimmers and hybrids on the feeder and worm before switching to pole and maggot to take roach steadily at 12 metres for a winning 14.6.0.

Brian Sharples, also of Turners, finished second with 11.12.0 from the peg above the winner, catching roach on maggot on the pole.

Third was Carl Eland (Drennan GOT Baits) with 9.14.0 of roach and perch on pole and maggot.

Last Sunday’s Carp League 2011 was fished by 22 anglers at Tunnel Barn.

Using pole with meat across to the island and then switching to the margins, Steve Waters landed several decent carp to 8lb for a winning 112.14.0.

Gary Knight weighed in a second-placed 104.4.0 of carp after switching between paste and meat.

Andy Benwell (Predator) caught all his carp in the margins using paste over hemp for 97.14.0 and third.

There was a good turn-out of 24 for the Kinloch AC match at a hard Ridgeway.

At the final whistle, Dean Bowerman was the clear winner with 65.7.0 of carp on pellet well over.

Darren Pickett was runner-up with 34.2.0 of carp on pellet or chopped worm down the margins, followed by Martin Blackman. He also switched between chopped worm and pellet, but fished well over, catching 28.8.0 of carp.

Oxford Waltonian fished their Coronation Cup on the Thame at Wheatley Bridge, and the nine matchmen found the river had come up a little with a tinge of colour after the rain.

Alan Gee (Acorn Angling) landed five small chub on pole and caster for a winning 11.14.0.

Tony Gee (Acorn Angling) was second with 7.10.0, comprising a 4lb chub, plus bits, on pole and maggot after being fishless for the first three hours.

Dave Head used a whip with maggot for a third-placed 3.14.0 of bits.
