Oxford City boss Mike Ford could supplement his side with former Birmingham City defender Reece Fleet.

Fleet, who is the son of former City goalkeeper Colin, ,joined City in pre-season after being released by Blues earlier in the year.

The big centre back played the second half of Tuesday night’s 2-2 draw against a full-strength Northampton Town and is expected to take part when Reading visit Court Place Farm tomorrow.

“Reece, who lives locally, has been training with us and wants to get back into the professional game,” said Ford.

“But it’s whether he wants to move down a level with us and do it that way. At the moment we are just helping him get fit.

“He’s got a good pedigree and is very calm on the ball.”

Striker Lee Steele is also expected to play against the Royals after signing a new deal.

Brackley tried to sign him in the summer, as a replacement for Steve Basham who ironically joined City, but Steele decided to stay at Court Place Farm.

Ford added: “He has been badgered by Brackley to join them, but he came down to the club on Tuesday night and signed his forms for the new season.

“Lee has enjoyed his time at City and is massively thought of down here. I’m really pleased he signed.

“He was exceptional agai-nst Northampton.”

Defender James Clarke has rejoined City after returning from South Africa.

Ford said: “He was out of contract in the summer, so we offered him a new deal and he turned it down.

“His move to a South African club didn’t work out, so we had a long conversation and he agreed to sign, which is great news.”

Didcot Town are also in action tomorrow when they host Conference South side Maidenhead United.

Abingdon United travel to Easington Sports, boosted by the news that Ricky Allaway, Shaun Wimble, Kevin Halliday and Adam Doyle have agreed to stay.

Departing though are Tom Melledew, who has joined Thatcham, and Graham Lewis, who has left.

They have signed keeper James Foster (Hungerford), Jack Smith (Gosport Borough), Sammy Belcher and Matty Biddle (both Wantage).
