Eight teams of six fished the third round of this year’s Summer League on a still and very tough Thames at Radley.

The water still has virtually no flow and retains its brown algae tinge, but that didn’t deter Neil Reid (Fox Match ISIS), who triumphed with 12.5.0 from the top end above the boathouse. He had perch and skimmers on worm over chop on the pole at 7m.

Second was Martin Kirk (Turners) with 9.6.0 from the favoured downstream end peg. He had roach and small chub on the pole and maggot at 13m.

Graham Williamson (Abingdon) was on the next peg and finished third with a similar bag on maggot and pole for 7.12.0.

Team-wise, Turners won easily with 38 points and now lead the league on 106.

The ‘school’ waters at the top of The High in Oxford fished really well for the five anglers contesting Oxford Bus AC’s latest match, with 35lb of fish caught.

Pete Clarke fished pole with caster to catch roach, bream, perch and a bonus 5.2.0 tench for a winning 15.3.0.

A net of roach gave Anthony Tompkins second place with 11.6.0 on pole with punch, while Nick Brooks was third with a mixed net on pole with hemp and caster for 6.2.0.

The Thames was the colour of chocolate for the Jolly Anglers’ Benson Individual Championship match fished on the Benson reach by ten members.

Fishing pole at 13 metres with maggot over groundbait, Robin Cave won with 10.7.0 of skimmers and perch.

Dick Edmunds was runner-up with net of skimmers up to 2.8.0 on groundbait feeder with maggot for 7.6.0.

Phil Ansell took third with 6.14.0 of roach on waggler, switching between maggot and caster.

Littlemore fished their RC Smith Cup on a flat Thames at Medley, and despite the conditions the roach put in an appearance.

The winner after five hours was Ken Franklin, who fished waggler with maggot for 9.9.0 of redfins.

Brian Hutchings claimed second with an all-roach net of 9.6.0 on the wag and maggot, followed by Alan Campbell with 6.6.0 of roach.
