RADLEY’S youngsters did the club proud as they went top of Southern Men’s League Division 2 with an impressive victory at Bournemouth.

Stepping into the breach as regular older athletes were injured or unavailable, Radley’s under 17s had a great day.

There were club records for Joe Finch in the triple jump (12.08m) and Jordan Dorrian in the 200m (22.7secs).

Dorrian registered a pb in the long jump (5.82m), as did 14-year-old Chris Hewitt in the 800m (2.07.2), which he followed with an impressive win in the A string 1500m.

Under 20 athlete Corey Brooks smashed his previous 110m hurdles time with 19.1 secs.

In the seniors, Dan Peace improved his previous 5K time by a large margin with 18.04.3.

Valuable points came from multi-eventer Osman Muskwe who won no fewer than five individual events and ran in both relays, and Chris Franks, who clocked up three victories in the throws.

l IN Southern Women’s League Division 2 West, Radley made the long trip to Par in Cornwall.

There were fine performances from all the juniors, with personal bests from Faith Brew (5.13.3) and Ellie Smith (6.17.4) in the 1500.

In the senior event, Susan Keet cleared 2.00m in the pole vault, while Alison Smith clocked 13.45.3 in the 3,000m and Andrea Snuggs 3.58.3 in the 800m.

l ABINGDON Amblers’ Noel Blatchford and Judy Howard won medals in the Race Walking Association Southern Area 20K Road Championship race in Basildon.

Blatchford set a personal best of 2hrs 12mins 10 secs to finish third and together with Howard, who clocked 2.23.06, won the ladies team gold.
