Oxford City’s youngsters were on song at the third round of the Wessex League in Winchester.

City’s under 13 girls and under 15 boys won their age groups, while the under 17 boys finished joint-third.

One of the highlights of the day came from under 13 Alice Byles, who delivered three consecutive national grade 1 performances to win the long jump and 100m and run the second fastest time in the UK this year over 200m, winning in 27.1 secs.

Alice Hopkins posted a fine victory in the under 13 girls’ 70m hurdles in a national grade 2 time of 12.4secs.

Charlotte Stafford took 11 seconds off her 1200m personal best, winning in 3.59.2.

In the field, Luisa Chantler produced grade 1 throws of 8.46m in the shot and 26.89m in the discus, while the girls also won the 4x100m relay.

In the under 15 boys’ category, City edged out Southampton by two points.

Chinedum Echeta led the way with a win in the A string long jump with 5.25m, while he also took third place in the 100m and 200m.
