ADAM Arscott scored his first century in real style, smashing 17 fours and ten sixes in a mammoth 175.

Arscott achieved the feat as Ewelme defeated Sydenham by 114 runs in a 35-over-a-side clash on Sunday.

The opening batsman dominated Ewelme’s 284-5 before Sydenham were bowled out for 170.

Arscott said: “I am 27 and have played for Ewelme for ten years and before that worked my way through Warborough youth set-up.

“My previous highest score was 86 versus Stadhampton in 2003.”

Arscott was also part of a record club partnership of 183 with Andy Climpson, who made 66.”

  • OXFORDSHIRE charity Cricket for Cancer have announced two fundraising matches this month.

The events will take place on Sundays, July 17 and 31 at Steventon and Sunningwell CC respectively.

Organiser Dave Dowling said: “All entrants pay £5 to come on to the field and £3 per over they would like to bowl or bat i.e. 50p a ball.

“There will be prizes, for which we need donations from local companies for the best bowler, best batsman amd best fielder.”
