Oxford United’s home clash with Championship side Cardiff City in the first round of the Carling Cup has been arranged for Wednesday, August 10 with a 7.45pm kick-off.
Although Tuesday evenings are traditionally United’s midweek games, Cardiff’s opening match of the Championship season away to West Ham will be shown on television and has been moved to the Sunday.
Football League regulations permit teams to play on a Wednesday if they have played on the previous Sunday.
Normal league prices for the fixture will apply and tickets will go on sale from Monday, July 11.
Season ticket holders will have their seats reserved until Thursday, July 28.
Meanwhile, United have announced their matchday ticket prices for the forthcoming season.
The club have slightly increased costs – a ticket for the Oxford Mail stand is £1 more expensive than last year – but people buying discounted season tickets, which are available until the end of the month, can make big savings.
