ECB 50+ County Championship

OXFORDSHIRE Over 50s remain firmly on course to qualify for the knock-out stages after handing out an eight-wicket hiding to Herefordshire at Eastnor CC, Ledbury, on Wednesday.

It takes their record to played five, won four and leaves them well set to reach the last 16.

Oxon put the home county in and were soon among the wickets as Ady Manger struck twice.

Despite losing the services of Keith Arnold with a hamstring injury after six overs, Oxon worked their way through the batting, Rob Willis picking up 3-29.

Facing a meagre target of 135, skipper Ian Caunce set about the bowling in his own inimitable style, with a half-century off 31 balls, including four sixes and six fours.

Paul Tew anchored the other end, and Oxon cruised home in just 24 overs with Tony Munsey unbeaten on 41.
