SOUTH Oxfordshire Amateurs break new ground tomorrow when they take part in their first Twenty20 encounter.
Ever since their formation in 1983, the SOA have declined to play limited overs games, preferring declaration cricket.
But tomorrow, Oxon’s leading wandering club throw aside their traditions to take on Exeter College in the shortest form of the game at Marston Road (6.15).
Dick Giles, the SOA president, said: “This match shows that the SOA can embrace all forms of the game and move with the times.
“Tradition is our strength but Twenty20 cricket will play a part in our future.
“I would love to put a side of SOA veterans against a side of SOA Twenty20 youngsters and play a traditional game and a Twenty20 game and see which team came out on top.
“My guess is that the veterans would know too much!”
