Rain brought an early end to Horspath’s Division 2 West clash at Reading with the outcome in the balance.

Chasing Reading’s 180 all out after putting the hosts in, Horspath were 85-3 with just under an hour’s play left when a downpour left the match abandoned as a draw.

Off-spinner Paul Jeacock led the way for Horspath with 4-46 in Reading’s innings, left-arm spinner Adam Krol (3-47) and seamer Jehan Mohammed offering support.

Opener Tom Fray top-scored for Reading with 45 before he was run out by Mark Skelton, while Sukhi Kang chipped in with 40.

Reading’s attack was also heavily reliant on spin with Berkshire left-armer Luke Beaven taking 2-24.

Ned Murray was the other batsman to fall, leaving skipper Robbie Eason and Tim Hutchison as the not out batsmen when the heavens opened.
