Bradley Smith chases his first Moto2 podium finish of the season at the AirAsia British Grand Prix at Silverstone tomorrow.

The 20-year-old rider from Beckley was in sparkling form in the opening two practice sessions held in very different conditions yesterday.

Riding the Tech 3 Honda, he was seventh fastest in the dry morning session and was third fastest in the afternoon that started in the wet and ended in the dry.

“Despite the difficult weather conditions, it’s been a good start to my home grand prix and both myself and the team are really pleased,” said Smith, who finished third in the 125 cc Grand Prix at Silverstone last year.

“We had problems in Barcelona last weekend, but came to Silverstone in a very positive frame of mind.

“Qualifying tomorrow afternoon will be crucial to get a good grid position.

“The only worry is the weather, but today we have shown we can deal with the wet or dry.”

Smith has another practice session this morning and qualifying in the afternoon.

The race – the sixth round of the Championship – starts at 11.15am.
