Ashley Rump is the Oxfordshire Cricket Board’s new cricket development officer.

Rump, 26, who lives in Oxford, succeeds Rupert Evans, who becomes the OCB’s head of cricket.

His role will involve working at the grass roots level, promoting cricket through schools and clubs and with the Chance To Shine programme.

Based at the OCB’s Oxford Academy offices in Sandy Lane, Littlemore, he will also be involved in marketing in a bid to secure future funding.

Having started his new job on Monday, Rump, who plays for Charlbury, said: “Obviously I was very pleased to get it.

“My passion in life is cricket, and this is the perfect job I want to do.”

Having graduated with a BA (Hons) degree in sports development from the University of Chichester, he worked previously as Oxfordshire County Council’s competitions manager.
