Aston Rowant captain Wes Morrick has urged his side to kick on following their first win of the Division 2 West season.

Rowant saw off Dinton by five wickets on Saturday and Morrick wants them to build on this in tomorrow’s derby at home to Thame Town. “Last week was a lot better than before,” said Morrick. “We did the disciplines right. We’ve got to get moving now.

“It is always a big game against Thame and all the boys are up for it.

“In the next two or three weeks, we need to cash in on the points available from lower sides before we face the tougher ones later.”

Leigh Lewis replaces Tom Needham (unavailable), while Archie Leon comes in for Dan Matthews.

Batsman Jimmy Neilson replaces all-rounder Harry Desai as Thame chase their first win.

Vice-captain Michael Higgs said: “Aston Rowant is a big game and we really need to focus on sticking three good sessions together.

“If we can do that, then I think we will go close.”

Batsman Adam Krol and seamer Mohson Rana return in place of Joey Todd and Dean Creed as Horspath host Harefield, who have won four out of four this season.

“Hopefully, we will be the ones to end that run,” said Horspath captain Robbie Eason, whose side lost by two wickets at Farnham Royal last week.

“We showed a lot of character to come back after losing six wickets for four runs.”

Leaders Oxford add Stefan Van Dyk to their squad to host second-placed Harpenden Division 1.

Captain Jason Harrison was not too downhearted by Oxford’s one-wicket derby defeat at Banbury.

“It was a very tight game and we lost an important toss,” said Harrison.

“It could have gone either way. It was a fantastic performance from both teams.

“Of the next four games, we have got three at home.

“We hope that we can continue our good performances and turn them into good results.”

Craig Haupt is fit for Banbury’s trip to Henley in Division 1 after missing Oxfordshire’s victory over Hertfordshire on Sunday, but Nathan Hawkes (shoulder) is out.

Batsman Ian Tew is added to a 12-man squad, with young seamer Ollie Wright keeping his place.

Hawtin said: “It was good to get back to winning ways last week after losing to Harpenden. It is great when you win tight games.

“Henley will be another hard game, but hopefully we can come through it.”
