MALCOLM Crosby is back at Oxford United - as the club's head of football development.

The popular 56-year-old has a long association with United, having been assistant manager to Denis Smith, as well as having a brief spell as manager at the Manor Ground.

Crosby was most recently at Northampton Town as assistant boss, but most famously led Sunderland to the FA Cup Final in 1992. Crosby's main responsibilities will be for the scouting and recruitment of all areas of the football club.

He will work closely with boss Chris Wilder evaluating upcoming opposition, and assisting with the first team squad recruitment as well as playing a hands-on role with the youth development department and will oversee the scouting and recruitment pathway for U9s through to the U18s.

Crosby said: "I am so pleased to be able to take up this position. I feel I can really offer something back to the club and help develop a process that we can be proud of."
